Ahh, holidays. I’ve recently returned from my first holiday for seven months, a welcome break indeed. I’m lucky enough to have a good friend that has a beautiful cottage located in the Eastern Lakes, in a little hamlet called Bampton Grange. On my way up to Bampton I stopped off at the Grange-over-Sands, a lovely town located in the South Lakes.
If you’ve ever been to Grange you’ll know that this small town is home to Britain’s Best Butcher; Higginsons, every time I’m in The Lakes I visit this award winning butcher and stock up on essentials.
Waiting in the long queue outside the little butchers shop I started to wonder why all the other people in the queue were willing to spend between 100-200% more on their sausages, pies and pork chops?
At Higginsons they don’t do anything fancy, in fact everything is pretty simple. They only source meat from local suppliers. All their meat products are reared, butchered and prepared locally.
They pride themselves on knowing the provenance of their produce. By keeping their supply chain local they benefit the local community, which in turn benefits their business. I could have nipped across the road to the Spar and bought a pack of Richmond Irish sausages for £1.50, but why?
Tucking into my Huntsman Pie I felt good. Not only was I enjoying a great tasting pie I was also doing my bit to support the local community. Keeping both jobs and money local.
Punters will pay more for a quality product that has a story. Here at CRE8, our story is similar…
We aren’t the cheapest designers around, nor the most expensive. We pride ourselves on being affordable, and we will always do so. But why call us when you can have a website with 1&1 for £11.99 a month, or why pay us to design print your business cards when Vista Print will do them for £7.49?
Like Higginsons we employ local staff, and wherever possible we use local suppliers to source our products and services. Where possible we buy from our existing clients, and we support Leigh town centre.
Unlike 1&1, and Vista Print we have a local presence. You can call us, email us or drop in and discuss your needs whenever it suits you. We will give you advice for gratis – a chat with us will never cost you a penny. We will genuinely do everything we can to help your business grow and prosper. The service we deliver for you will be fully tailored to suit your needs.
Unlike some local competitors we won’t try to sell you a product or service if we don’t feel it’s right for your business.
Keeping it local helps everyone, putting cash into the local community can only be a good thing, but clients should always demand a quality, personal service, otherwise why bother?
Higginsons produce and our services are no different really. We both offer quality locally produced products at an affordable price, delivered by a friendly and professional local team.
Ask yourself, what’s your value proposition, what’s makes your business different from that of your competitors?
Identify what your brand stands for then shout about it, making sure that everything you say and do stays true to your brand – the message should always remain consistent.
There’s more to a brand than a logo, but having the right identity will help you stay focused.
