Launching Omnium

Keen followers of our blog and social media will know that we’ve been working with Omnium International, an exceptional firm of Quantity Surveyors based in the UAE, for around a year. We’re absolutely delighted to have now successfully completed our website project – read on for more!

We first started speaking with Omnium in mid-2016 following an introduction by Emma, Omnium’s Administration Manager (thanks Emma!). Dubai-headquartered Omnium International is a large, niche Quantity Surveying business with additional offices in Abu Dhabi, Jeddah in Saudi Arabia and Boston, USA.

With 140 team members across its offices, the business is large and highly experienced, with a stellar portfolio of projects that includes mega-tall structures such as the Burj Khalifa and Jeddah Tower, world-famous developments including the Dubai Mall and Dubai Marina, and all 4 outstanding Expo 2020 Pavilions.

With a pedigree like that, our whole team is very proud to have Omnium on board!

Our brief

Omnium’s digital presence wasn’t doing the business justice. A small website that had been developed some time ago, the content was out of date and didn’t communicate Omnium’s brand values, which are unique for the industry.

After exchanging Skype calls and plenty of emails, we agreed with Omnium’s team a brief for a new website which would focus on Omnium’s projects, team and brand, allowing for a better user experience and representing the business more professionally.

Omnium had not outsourced marketing on this scale before, and we supported the team closely (across the miles!) to help them navigate the brief and process, ensuring that they understood all aspects of the project and our recommendations.

We got to know the team well, gaining a good knowledge of the brand before we’d even set foot in the office. Our consultancy services included distribution of an employee survey, the results of which fed into our brand definition and helped us to shape the foundations of the website.

Our delivery

As with all of our website projects, we started with a wireframe which progressed to a graphical mock-up, allowing us to plan how the website was going to be laid out, plotting the user experience and ensuring that we met the brief in terms of brand value communication.

Jonathan also settled on a refreshed colour palette that required a logo colour scheme update. We all crossed our fingers, and everything else, that the client wouldn’t mind!

Things get exotic…

In August 2016, Jonathan and Vicki headed off to a very warm Dubai for a week to work alongside Omnium’s team, presenting our designs, getting the information together for content and immersing ourselves in the client’s business to allow us to really define the brand.

We know that there’s no better way to support a client than by working alongside them. It’s the CRE8 way of doing things, and we’re proud to do the same with all of our clients, whether local or further afield. Our week with Omnium was so valuable, and has allowed us to deliver an excellent product.

Luckily, the logo colour change went down well and the client loved the designs. Jonathan tweaked these during the week, guiding directors and team members through the designs and mock-ups so that, by day 5, we had pretty much a finished product. In between times, JG and VG also managed to get round a few sights and enjoyed some of Dubai’s fine cuisine (mainly Kris Kros chicken shawarma). Read more about their visit in their Dubai diaries!

Once they were back, the real effort started! Vicki had over 70 pages of content to write, Jordan had to build his biggest website to date and Jonathan had to make sure that the whole thing looked perfect for a user.

After many months of hard work, both over here and in Omnium’s offices, and another visit by VG in April to touch base, the website was ready.

We Skyped the team in Dubai and, with the press of a button (sort of), we were delighted to launch the site on Wednesday 26th July 2017!

We were so relieved, we had a little (think more ‘bottle of cava’ than ‘dinner and cocktails’) celebration and project reflection time in the meeting room that afternoon. Even Lauren, now on maternity leave, was present…(ish!).

Our thoughts

We’re extremely proud of our work on this project. From start to finish, we’ve worked with the client to create more than just a website; we’ve refreshed the brand visuals, defined the brand and its values, injected some marketing creativity into the business and delivered an online platform that communicates all Omnium is about, professionally supporting the business throughout with marketing advice and expertise.

Having established a great client relationship, we’re delighted to be working with Omnium on wider aspects of their business now under our Marketing Manager 360 services, ensuring that the new brand is reinforced and properly-presented throughout all communications.

Working with a client such as Omnium was an exciting challenge for us, partnering with an established and well-respected client whilst taking our work and skills into a new market. We’re looking forward to continuing to work with the team – thank you for choosing us, Omnium!
