Web Design Case Study No.1 (Forward Together)

Founded by Tyldesley Primary School, Forward Together is a Teaching School Alliance for the Wigan Borough with 17 core schools benefiting from the expert support of Yvonne Brown and her team.

Client Overview

Founded by head staff at Tyldesley Primary School, Forward Together is a Teaching School Alliance for the Wigan and Leigh Borough with seventeen core schools benefiting from the expert support of Yvonne Brown, Debra Lingard and team. Having recently expanded, Forward Together specialises in the training and development of newly- and recently-qualified teachers, along with leadership development for the whole profession.

Tyldesley Primary School is one of the country’s leading primary schools. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED and performing at a consistently high standard, leaders at the school implement a progressive, forward-thinking and proactive vision which puts the needs of learners at the heart of every decision. With exceptional early years provision, literacy and numeracy, sport and creative arts, the school has a lot to be proud of.

“CRE8 go above and beyond with their customer care; the team plays an integral role in our business”

The client’s need

When Forward Together TSA was launched, it became one of the first teaching schools in the country. However, competitors quickly moved ahead; Forward Together had no recognisable brand or image and the team hadn’t put together a marketing plan, which they felt made them look unprofessional.

Yvonne and Debra weren’t happy with the existing Tyldesley Primary School website; it needed to be interactive and user-friendly, with an image which would fit in with an increasingly business-focused world. As the school is now a multi-academy trust, additional marketing was required in order to compete with other schools in the area and for many, a website will be the first port of call.

Why CRE8?

A mutual contact introduced us to Yvonne and Debra. Our experience in working with local schools meant that we could demonstrate a solid understanding of their goals early on and being based nearby meant that we were able to meet regularly to discuss their requirements.

“It is important to us and to our school governors to use companies local to Leigh and Tyldesley wherever possible”

We recognised that it was vital for the team to introduce branding to Forward Together, invoking senses of professionalism and experience. Designs needed to be clear and appropriate for a corporate setting. Similarly, web design for Tyldesley Primary School had to be easily accessible on a range of devices, incorporating school colours and allowing for regular refreshed content to keep parents up-to-date with school activities.

Web Design & development

Following a series of meetings with the client, we advised on a complete marketing strategy which would promote Forward Together as an exceptional and modern teaching school. It is important to us to invest plenty of time in getting to know and understand our clients’ businesses; it helps us to identify what clients need and the audience they want to talk to.

We designed a bold but simple logo which now permeates through a full range of literature, stationery, roller banners, course branding, business cards and other merchandise. From design to content creation, the comprehensive Forward Together website was built from scratch in order to completely repackage the business.

“We are now able to supply good-quality merchandise for people to take away and remember our brand; our sleek, professional look is already winning us more work with courses well-attended and interest continually generated.”

“Jonathan’s design is so clever in its simplicity. We’re delighted with it.”

Working on Tyldesley Primary School, we produced business cards and professionally-designed brochures which are both simple and effective, making a big difference to the school’s image. The website’s clear and user-friendly design is now a fantastic resource and pop-ups around the building pull the corporate but child-friendly brand together.

“Packages are tailored to need with pricing which is affordable and very fair.”
